Ok, in the style of [info]jaylake and [info]calendula_witch I'm going to do a Have Some More Information post. We all have medical problems that someone else out there probably has too. We want more information, and the process of getting it isn't always easy because people don't talk about these sorts of things. So I'm going to once more go unto the breach and start talking about my most recent journey in the medical field.

Ok, so everyone who knows me off-line knows I am quite bendy. I've always been this way, and it has massive issues involved therewith. I've had four different doctors for four different sets of joints. I have had re-constructive surgery on both my ankles. I have arthritis in both my knees. My back has always hurt. I have TMJ in my jaw. Those are just the ones that I've had doctors for. Every other joint in my body hurts. I live in constant pain, and don't bother taking pain meds unless it's really bad.

Here we go! Follow me! )

The next step in this process will be finding a specialist, because that's what I need. Possibly an EDS specialist, possibly just a genetic disorder specialist. I'll be asking my primary care physician what he recommends, but at this point, that's the only thing I'll be looking to him for. I live near both Washington DC and Baltimore, so if you know of anyone who does that sort of thing, let me know.

Ok, so. As everyone who knows my feelings about Steampunk knows, I love colour. I think the more of it the better. The brightest, brilliant-est, spiffing-est colours available. I am in fact coming up with a teal blue, lime green, bright pink concoction. It will be fantabulous.

Anyway, I have been talking to Kass of Reconstructing History (fantastic historical patterns, and yes they have Victorian stuff) and it turns out we BOTH love colour! So she's working on her very own project right now and has taken up my Steampink philosophy! In Steampink, it doesn't have to be pink, just bright.

So go HERE and read her blog about her newest project!

Light The Night

Hi there!

I'm finishing up my drive for Light the Night, which is the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society's walk for a cure. It's tonight! The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. These treatments have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.

For the past two years, I've raised over $1000 personally, and helped my team reach their goals. This year I've had to focus on my own health, so I haven't been able to focus on this too much which personally dissapoints me, but I think that my goal of $500 is a good one. I'm half way there and you can help!

Well, maybe not so secret. Hiiii everyone! This is your favourite Amber from Amber's Awesomesaucetastic Time Machine Company! Also the founder of the Steampink movement (ask for details and I shall provide!). I am in desperate need for help.

You see, there is a con in November, Thanksgiving weekend actually, just above Baltimore, MD. Darkover, and the website is over here at http://www.darkovercon.org/ for details. And I have started to put together a possible Steampunk Track for programming, to be looked over and hopefully approved by the Con Chair. Unfortunately, I've only got about three hours worth of programming so far set up in steel. I've got a panel on amateur scientists in the steam era, a costuming panel, and a Chrononauts Parade (not yet run by Evelyn and GD, but somewhat modelled after it). Well, that's for sure anyway. I've got a bunch of other ideas knocking around in my head and possible commitments by people who have not yet given me a firm idea.

What I need is your help. If you are going to be attending Darkover, or would like to attend Darkover if there is a Steampunk Track, please consider emailing me at my user name plus @gmail.com and volunteering to help be a part of it! I would love all areas of Steampunk expertise to show their stuff and I really want everyone to be a part of this!

1. Gluten free
2. Vegetarian
3. Have protein
4. No tree nuts (including coconut, peanuts ok, but please don't go heavy on the peanut oil) or cinnamon
5. TASTE GOOD

Feel free to pimp this request around if you think it will help. It'll be unlocked for a good long while.

Long time no post, but I've finally gone back to a basic account from paid, so I'm making the very occasional allowance for a post or two over here on LJ. I'm still permanently over on InsaneJournal under the name mysoultokeep.

Anyway, this Sunday I'm walking in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk. I'm doing it with my company, but I'm team captain, and I have more than a little personal regard for this particular cause. To sum things up, I'm looking for help to raise money for research and support services for families with blood cancer. Our goal is $5500 and we've only gotten up to $1700 so far.

You can donate HERE.

If you yourself can't donate, I'd appreciate if you could point this out to someone who might be able to, we need all the help we can get. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, that have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving the quality of life.

That is what I walk for. Hope.

Happy Birthday [info]anjenue. I miss you so much.

I can't delete your number from my cellphone because it makes me cry to think of it, even though rationally I know the number has probably been disconnected. Letting go is never easy, and harder when you don't want to.

Wherever you are (hopefully you've already made your way back for your next life of adventures) I love you.

So. One of my uncles is fighting cancer. My participation in Light The Night is now dedicated to him. I not only now want to raise money for this cause, it's a need. It's something I can do while sitting here helplessly. Please. Please help.

You can donate here: http://www.active.com/donate/ltnBaltim/2166_adionneLTN

I've reached 46% of my goal. I want to get to 100% and beyond. Please.

Hi all!

On September 30, I’ll be walking in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk
to raise funds to help fight cancer. The Society is the world’s largest voluntary health
organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

I’d like to enlist your support for this important cause. It’s important because there are more than 785,000 people in the United States and Canada who are fighting blood cancers. Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over.

  • Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every
    10 minutes, someone dies.
  • Leukemia is the leading cause of cancer death among children and young adults under the age of 20.
  • Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.
  • The myeloma survival rate is only 33 percent. Incidence is nearly double for African- Americans as for all other races.

Please sponsor me. By doing so, we’ll both be helping save lives. You can donate to the cause at my fund raising website here.

Thank you very much for your support.
